The Cultured Whey

The Cultured Whey began as a personal quest to solve my own underlying health issues. I knew there was something wrong with me and that the problem stemmed from my gut.


“I researched, read and listened to any information I could get my hands on.”

 

My body was completely out of whack. I suspected that Candida was running rampant in my body causing inflammation. Based on my research, I correctly predicted that it was due to either Irritable Bowel Syndrome or a leaky gut.

 

“I found the answer and it was to get my gut bacteria healthy again as well as reduce emotional and physical stress.”

 

A common thread started to emerge that reaches back to the long forgotten old world ways of preparing and preserving food. I learned that, by adding fermented foods and naturally brewed probiotics to your diet, you can repopulate your gut macrobiome.

This confirmed my long-held suspicion that our food over the last 100 years, since the post-war, industrialisation of the food industry and the shift from small family-run farming to industrialised farming practices is deeply effecting our core health. More specifically, our immune systems are being fundamentally compromised.

Industrialised farming practices that use genetically modified seeds, synthetic fertilisers, glysophates, as well as a myriad of other herbicides and pesticides have not only threatened our food security but also our health.

I was fascinated to find out that our gut hosts between 500 and 1000 different microbial species weighing up to 1.4 kg! This is called our ‘microbiome’. It’s referred to as our ‘second brain’ because our microbiome releases chemicals to our brains, which can change our mood, and how we feel. Our gut needs to be in balance for our brain to function optimally. As well, our gut’s ability to absorb and assimilate minerals, vitamins and nutrients from the food we eat is directly connected to how balanced our gut bacteria is.

Seventy percent of the cells that make up our immune system are found in our gut wall so a healthy gut strengthens your immune system, treats autoimmune conditions as well as so many other chronic illnesses. (So, a healthy gut is paramount to a healthy life!

I got to work in my home kitchen. My first step was to buy a cow! Winifred was our first milking cow. I began making kefir – a naturally fermented raw, milk drink that tastes like yoghurt. Then I started making Kombucha but soon realised that Kombucha Vinegar was 100% more potent and knocked apple cider vinegar into a cocked hat!

I started feeling so much better. So I kept brewing. Next on the list was Beet Kvaas and Sauerkraut. Then I discovered the recipe for my most popular product, Fire Tonic.

All my bases were finally covered and my health continued to improve. I told my friends and they wanted to try the products. And they told their friends and so on.

Needless to say, my production quickly outgrew my kitchen at home! Our stables at Oaklands have now been converted to a proper production kitchen to meet the on-going demand from friends, family and retailers throughout the country.

RAW KOMBUCHA VINEGAR

 

REGULATES GUT FLORA, DETOXIFIES + BALANCES PH

Kombucha’s health-promoting properties include the regulation of intestinal flora (thereby regulating intestinal activities), cellular strengthening, antibiotic effects and balancing of pH levels. It is used as a natural body detoxifier, with the glucoronic acid found in Kombucha playing an important role in the detoxification process, Kombucha Raw Vinegar contains B vitamins, amino acids, good yeast and bacteria, antibiotic substances and acetic, lactic, gluconic and glucuronic acids.

Ingredients:

  • Natural non-chlorinated water
  • Organic white sugar
  • Black tea

Directions:
Take 1 or more tbsp. every morning upon waking, mixed in a glass of warm water (preferably boiled or non-chlorinated) or juice.


FIRE TONIC

 

IMMUNE-BOOSTING NATURAL ANTIBIOTIC
This tonic strengthens the immune system and can help cure viral, bacterial, parasitic and fungal diseases. It encourages blood circulation and lymph flow, purifying the blood. This remedy is the best choice for the fight against candida.

Ingredients:

  • Kombucha Raw Vinegar
  • Ginger
  • Horseradish/Radish
  • Onion
  • Garlic
  • Chilli pepper
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Tumeric

Directions:
Take one or more tbls daily. If you are struggling with lowered immunity increase your dose up to 4 tbsp daily. If you have an auto- immune condition, consult your physician.



BEET KVASS

 

DETOXIFIES, ALKALISES & AIDS DIGESTION
Beet Kvass is an excellent blood tonic, promotes health digestion and regular clearing of the bowels, alkalizes the blood and cleanses the liver. It is beneficial for reflux sufferers, aiding in the first digestive process in the upper stomach. Kvaas is a good treatment for kidney stones and other ailments. Widely used to support cancer treatment in Europe, reports indicate that kvass is also an excellent tonic for chronic fatigue.

Ingredients:

  • Organic beetroot
  • Himalayan salt
  • Grass-fed whey
  • Non-chlorinated natural water

Directions
Approx. 50ml morning and night, 20 minutes before or after a meal.

This pack contains 3 x 250ml bottles of Beet Kvaas, Kombucha Vinegar and Fire Tonic.

Directions:

Charcoal does not have a distinct flavour and is a plant-based product.
