The Natal Midlands
The Natal Midlands is one of the province's most remarkably beautiful regions, prized for its rich natural splendour and charmingly rustic atmosphere.
The landscape features rolling hills, lush forests, gentle rivers, tumbling waterfalls, mountain foothills and green farmlands - a perfect setting for a day of walking, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, or simply appreciating the great outdoors.

Midlands Meander
The Midlands Meander is an 80km stretch between Currys Post and Rietvlei in the east of Natal, and Fort Nottingham and Dargle Vally in the west. Four different routes wind through the picturesque countryside, passing more than 160 stopover points.
Also known as the 'arts and crafts route' the Midlands Meander is vibrant hub of creativity. A plethora of artists and craftsmen have established studios in the area, offering visitors a wide range of interesting things to see, do and buy. Painters, potters, leatherworkers, metalworkers, beer brewers, cheese makers and herb growers are just some of the artisans who hone their craft in this peaceful country setting.
Visitors seeking refreshment can choose from a number of organic farm stalls and quaint coffee shops.
Midlands sporting events
People flock to this area of KwaZulu-Natal every year to observe or participate in several competitive sports. The Midmar Mile, Midlands Meander Marathon and Springvale Horse Trials are three main highlights on the calendar.
